Rena Kawabata is 18 years old and in her first year at McGill University
in Montreal. She was born in Tokyo, Japan and at age three moved to
Vancouver, BC where she grew up. Coming from a multicultural background
of Japanese and European descent, she finds it easy to relate to other
cultures and traditions and loves studying the languages of the world.
Fluent in English and French, she is currently perfecting her Japanese
and is learning Spanish and Italian.
At McGill, Rena is working towards her Bachelor of Arts in Political
Science and Philosophy. She finds solace in these subject areas because
she is fascinated by the link between the modern study of international
politics and the fundaments of thought.
Outside of the classroom, Rena is an accomplished Ultimate Frisbee
player, a two time National Champion vying for a spot on the Canadian
National Team to compete at the World Championships. Rena is also
a talented dancer, singer, and actress, pursuing endeavors in this
triple-threat campaign. She has participated in service projects in
Peru and Canada as a coordinator and trainer for the Generation of
Hope organization, in which Rena has been a leading member since 2004.
