MARCH 2008 - Miss World Canada's Official Chreographer: Eden Hinton
Eden graduated from Ryerson University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. During her time working as a professional dancer she had the opportunity to work with many renowned choreographers such as Robert Desrosiers, Bengt Jorgen and Alan Harding.She worked as a full company member of FreeFlow Dance Co. (Toronto based modern dance company), cruised the world with 'Sun Cruises' working as a dancer/soloist and then later as Dance Captain/Show Manager. She spent two years in the UK performing with and choreographing for Ascendance Dance Co., a northern England based modern dance company. Most recently in her career she has focused more on her choreography and has won many awards for doing so. Eden has adjudicated dance competitions all over Southern Ontario and teaches dance classes at the advanced level. She is also a Certified Pilates instructor and loves the variety her career has offered her. Eden is proud to have been brought on board as Choreographer of "Miss World Canada".

Miss World Canada Productions Inc is pleased to announce Romika Jewels as the "Official Jewellers" for Miss World Canada 2008.

Miss World Canada 2008 winner will receive a Royal $1200 Sapphire Hand Made Silver Necklace Set. Please see below.

The pageant is scheduled from Thursday March 11th through Saturday March 15th 2008

FEBRUARY 6TH 2008 - Masters of Ceremony for Miss World Canada 2008

DAVID PHILLIPS
David is honoured and excited to be a part of the esteemed Miss World Canada pageant. He's also hosted the Miss Canada Globe Pageant the past four years, and for two seasons co-hosted "Video and Arcade Top Ten" on YTV, as well as hosted many other major events in the GTA.

An accomplished theatre actor, David performed in The Stratford Festival for three seasons and has appeared in numerous productions across Ontario, most recently portraying Gerry in "Dancing at Lughnasa" at the Bathhurst Street Theatre, and Daniel in "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged" at the Rose Theatre.

Recent television and film work includes starring as Johnny in the t.v. pilot "Johnny", as well as last year being both the lead in the film "Winter", and then acting with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in "The Time Traveler's Wife" - both currently in post production.

SAPHIA KHAMBALIA
Saphia Khambalia is a former Miss World Canada contestant and is honored to
be back again, as co-host of the 2008 pageant. She is a Television personality and news reporter. She most recently trained as an anchor for City TV, Toronto. Saphia has worked as a reporter for Global Television and CHCH.

Saphia found herself in the modeling and acting industry at a young age. And, since has graced magazine covers, newspaper ads and television commercials. She went on to build a high-profile position in the Hamilton and Niagara area. Saphia currently acts as an ambassador and motivational speaker for the Lions Club, and holds the title of the Hamilton community's 2005 Peach Queen.

Personally, Saphia calls herself a "champion of women's rights" and couldn't have asked for a better experience with Miss World Canada, she says: "A beauty queen is much more than a ball gown-clad Barbie. It takes a smart and confident woman to display her intelligence in front of national audiences."

This summer Saphia will take her out-going personality and love for people all the way to Africa. She’s been asked to work with a development organization in Uganda, promoting equality for women.

The President of the Miss World Organization, Julia Morley, coined the motto "Beauty With A Purpose" and over the past twenty-five years, more than $400 million USD has been raised for children's charities across the globe, helping hundreds of thousands of those in need. MISS WORLD CANADA and MWC Productions are committed to this principle, and in keeping with this mandate, to raise funds and awareness by associations with organizations that benefit children; Miss World Canada’s Charity of Choice is SOS Children’s Villages Canada.

SOS Children's Villages is the world's largest orphan-focused charities, caring for orphaned and abandoned children in 132 countries. SOS Children's Villages provides long-term care for over 60,000 children and youth worldwide. The MISS WORLD CANADA "Beauty With A Purpose" Award was presented for the first time in 2005 and is now an exciting and innovative part of the contest. As part of MWC’s commitment to the principle of Beauty With A Purpose, the contestants have fundraised for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Rock Sold Foundation, and The Hospital for Sick Children. The contestant who raises the most funds for the charity will earn an automatic semifinalist placement.

The current Miss World Canada, 18-year-old Sara Ghulam of Pickering, will compete at the Miss World Contest in Sanya, China this December with over 110 other national titleholders across the globe. Ghulam won the title at the Dominion Club at 1 King West in downtown in March. 29 contestants from across Canada participated. She departs Toronto for beautiful Sanya China this week.

Celebrating "Beauty With A Purpose"

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 19, 2007) -

17-year-old Sara Ghulam of Pickering, ON won the 2007 Miss World Canada title at the Dominion Club at 1 King West in downtown Toronto on Sunday night. 29 contestants from across Canada participated.

She is the youngest woman to win the Miss World Canada title. Ghulam, who also won the Talent Award, will now compete at the Miss World Contest in Poland this September with over 110 other national titleholders across the globe.

Ghulam is in her final year of high school and is a talented vocalist, who hopes to work in the entertainment field. Ghulam won the talent award which was held at the Windsor Arms Hotel. Sara is from a multicultural family of Pakistani, Indian, Maltese and Scottish backgrounds.

In addition to winning the Talent Award, Ghulam won prize for Best in Evening Gown, while placing as a finalist in both the Point Zero Ocean Swimwear and the Interview Competition during the pageant finals. Among her prizes for winning the crown are a $5,000 cash prize and over $5,000 in services courtesy of Pure Med Spa. Ghulam will also receive an all-expenses paid trip to Poland, a couture wardrobe, a year's supply of Revlon hair care products, hair services by Fiorio Salons, cosmetics by Faces Cosmetics, photo shoots by Chocolat Image, accessories by Bittersweet, Point Zero Ocean Swimwear, and much more.

The first runner-up was Alyson Lozoff, 21, from Montreal, who also won the Best in Interview Award, and the second runner-up was Maria Vdov, 19, from Niagara Falls. The third runner-up was Leah Ryerse, 18, from Stoney Creek, ON, and the fourth runner-up was Genevieve Poirier, 23, from Gatineau, PQ, who also received the Point Zero Ocean Best in Swimwear Award.

Tiffany Goulding, 22, of Mississauga won the Faces Cosmetics Photogenic Award.

The Pure Med Spa People's Choice Award was won by Natasha Bodorik of Nova Scotia. The Fiorio Woman of Style Award was won by Alyson Lozoff. The Totum Life Science Fitness Award was won by Lori O'Keefe of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Outgoing titleholder Malgosia Majewska, of Brampton, ON, who won the Sports Competition, and placed among the top fifteen semi-finalists in the Miss World 2006 Contest last September, crowned Ghulam, who will now spend her year making appearances for charity and cultural events across Canada and the world.
